Rancho Santa Fe

Rancho Santa Fe (or simply “The Ranch” to residents) is a small but very affluent bedroom community in North San Diego County. This census-designated place is known as one of the wealthiest residential areas in California and the U.S. and is home to many public figures. Luxurious homes are set on large, sometimes hidden lots, creating a sense of privacy.

The Ranch began with an original planned community, The Covenant, and is now comprised of several smaller planned or gated communities like Fairbanks Ranch, Cielo, and Del Mar National, each with its own character. Rancho Santa Fe is governed by an association that mandates high aesthetic standards and specific architectural codes. Most of these posh, tony residences will follow the Tudor, French, or Spanish styles.

The area is associated with the many lovely eucalyptus trees that were planted in the early part of the twentieth century by railroads who were hoping to use the wood for ties. The highly-rated Rancho Santa Fe school district and general safety make the area a great choice if you can afford it.
